After nearly three months of work, the extensive revitalization of Azalea Park was completed this past Friday.
Recent storm-related damage and other unforeseen delays have pushed the estimated reopening of Azalea Park back to the end of July according to a representative of the Fairfax County Park Authority.
The Park Authority had been hard at work for the better part of two months on the planned improvements to the park when severe storms ripped through the area late last month. In its wake the storm system left downed trees and other debris in Azalea Park and across the Greater Hillwood community.
Outstanding items remaining before the park can officially reopen include a safety audit, landscaping installation, and time allow newly planted grass to establish.
Keep an eye out in the coming weeks for updates and plans to celebrate the reopening of the park with a neighborhood block party.
