Work began this week on the overhaul of Azalea Park. Fences have been erected around the park at this time to close off what is an active construction site. The improvements are expected to take place over the next eight weeks.
GHCA has schedule its first community meeting of 2019 for next Wednesday, April 3. The meeting will be an opportunity to officially install the 2019 officers, discuss plans for the remainder of 2019, providing an update on the Azalea Park improvements, and much more.
The Greater Hillwood Citizens Association on Tuesday, October 30 voted to approve a proposed new plan to revitalize Azalea Park. The vote, including absentee ballots cast prior to the meeting, was unanimous in favor of the proposed plan. Construction will begin in the Spring of 2019 and take approximately two months to complete.
On Wednesday, October 17, representatives from the Fairfax County Park Authority briefed members of the Azalea Park Steering Committee and the Greater Hillwood Citizens Association on a revised plan to revitalize Azalea Park.
The improvement plan was designed by the Fairfax County Park Authority relying on feedback from the Azalea Park Steering Committee and inspired by the results of a community survey distributed to the Hillwood community in May 2018.
The Azalea Park Steering Committee debuted its winning design for proposed improvements to Azalea Park at the 2nd Annual GHCA Block Party on September 29.
