2017 Homeowners Dues Update – Mike McCarthy
Mike informed us that we currently have approximately $440 in the GHCA bank account. Dues can be paid at a meeting or anytime via cash, check, PayPal (GHCA account), credit card (manual swipe charge of 2%). We are always looking to raise more money by offering advertising space within the Hillwood Herald to local businesses.  Please spread the word.  Also, a potential motion to increase dues was discussed in addition to offering a discount to the seniors in the GHCA community. The notion seemed well received and we will discuss again in the upcoming meeting.

Bozzuto Proffer Funds Update – Ryan Keedy
Bozzuto has released funds to the county.  Now is the time to continue to discuss what we as a community would like to do with the funds.  Currently there are 10 suggestions that have been given:

  1. Additional swings; more age appropriate seats
  2. Additional playground equipment that suit a broader age range
  3. Dog waste area; maintained by a company
  4. Lighting in Azalea park
  5. Replace furniture (benches, picnic tables) in the park
  6. Off-leash area for pets
  7. Community garden behind South Street
  8. Speed bumps
  9. Stop sign at Brook Drive and Westover (from Hillwood down to Cedar)
  10. Welcome to Hillwood Sign

These are all excellent suggestions and we would love to hear more! Please feel free to submit additional feedback via email ( or the Facebook page.  We will have to vote on the funds so it’s important that everyone pay their dues.  If you do not pay your dues, unfortunately you will not have a vote.

Fall Park Clean Up
It was an extremely successful event.  THANK YOU to everyone who helped and THANK YOU to everyone who contributed supplies.  Looking forward to the Spring Clean Up!  Date to follow soon.

Block Parties!
Brook Drive hosted an AWESOME 1st Annual Hillwood Block Party.  So many families came out to eat and mingle.  The turnout was fantastic!  We are looking for the next street to host the second annual block party in late Spring/Early Summer.  Let us know if your street is interested.

GHCA Website
We are currently working on our re-vamping and re-designing our GHCA website (thanks Alex Strong!)  It should be up by the end of January.  Please keep checking back to see the finished product.

Special Meeting Visitor
Zach Hardy from Meadow Lane came to our meeting on behalf of his Boy Scout Troop.  He has a service project he has to fulfill and came to pitch the possibility of building a Little Free Library for the community in Azalea Park.  The idea was welcomed with opened arms and we look forward to receiving Zach’s proposal.
